First and foremost, we are the area’s major arts and cultural attraction. The arts enhance our lives; they shape the culture of our community. The arts provide a means to creatively expressing ourselves while challenging our intellect. The arts shine a light on the human experience, they bring people together, and they help us understand the joys and the struggles of others.
Support for the arts also bolsters the local economy. A study called The Arts and Economic Prosperity III, the Economic Impact of Nonprofit Arts and Culture Organizations in the State of Pennsylvania conducted in 2010 found that attendees of an arts and culture event each spend an average of $20.20 beyond the cost of admission in the local economy.
This season the State Theatre will present about 50 events including our main stage season of shows, our education series, our classic film series, community programs, dance recitals, and civic events. We estimate that about 15,000-20,000 people will attend an event at the theatre this year. If we multiply that by the $20.00, over $404,000 will be spent in our area restaurants, gas stations, retail shops and parking lots. What an impact the State Theatre will make!
The theatre looks to the future with great expectation. New highways, new industry and a strengthening economy will reinvigorate our region and the State Theatre stands ready to encourage economic growth. All we need is YOU! We want to see even more people at each of our events. The more support we receive the greater our impact can be. By purchasing tickets and attending our various events, you not only support the State Theatre, you support downtown Uniontown and the community at large.
